Matthew Putland Heads to 3MT Nationals!
Our research group's brilliant PhD student, Matthew Putland, has had an exceptional few weeks! Matt first won the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition - and then went on to win the Loughborough University-wide competition too! He’ll now go on to represent Loughborough at the national finals. An outstanding achievement!
The 3MT is no easy feat: participants must present their entire PhD in just three minutes, using only one slide, and do it in a way that’s engaging and understandable to a non-specialist audience. It's a real test of clarity, communication and impact.
Matt’s thesis explores how emerging evolutionary theory can be applied to tackle one of the biggest public health challenges of our time: widespread physical inactivity. It's exciting, ambitious and incredibly important work.
We’re very proud of you, Matt, and we can’t wait to cheer you on at the national competition!
